A big congratulations to Jennifer Vest from Destin, FL for winning the Microsoft Surface from OBCIDIO and Entrepreneur On Fire. We’re super excited for her!
It was such a pleasure giving away something of worth to someone who deserves it. You always reap what you sow.

I recently read an article about how the Huang brothers bootstrapped Guitar Hero into a billion dollar empire. What I found truly incredible about their self-funded journey was how they navigated their way through Silicon Valley, otherwise known to non-funded startups there as the “Valley of Death”.
This story goes deeper than just another company capitalizing on a fortuitous break so I wanted to share this article with fellow entrepreneurs, as we can all learn a very valuable lesson here. Just like the Huang brothers you need to find a way to make it, find a way to keep the doors open one day at a time, and find a way to stay in the game for that next opportunity!
Over the past 3 years I have been personally challenged by all the obstacles of a self-funded tech startup taking myself and my team to the brink both financially and emotionally. One thing that has never wavered through this long journey is our overall vision and the perseverance it takes to overcome.
As most successful startups can be attributed to benefiting from a fortuitous break, it’s the will to succeed at all cost that ultimately makes these companies rise to the top. Excuses are the easy way out!! What startups come down to is how well you adapt and overcome even when the back account is negative or employees are flooding to the exits.
The greater lesson here is it does not matter where you start your business, how much funding you get, or how many people try to try to hold you back along your journey. What really matters is your dedication to overcome all these obstacles through hard work and by simply finding a way!
I hope this article below about two amazing brothers that would stop at nothing to achieve their dreams and goals inspires you!

This morning, I was talking to a family member who, by choice, has been out of work. As time has worn on, he has grown complacent in his joblessness… and so has his bank account. Since it is New Year’s Day, I asked him, “What are you up to today, dude?”
To which he replied, “Nothing. Even if I had something to do, I have no one to do it with.”
To which I replied, “Get a job!”

This blog is a follow up to our last ‘Facebook Top 5 Stats of 2012‘ post based off the statistics provided in an article written by Brian Honigman “100 Fascinating Social Media Statistics and Figures from 2012”. In this follow up blog we are going to provide you with our Top 5 Twitter stats and explain how they directly effect social business.

Twitter Top 5 Stats
1.) 56 percent of customer tweets to companies are being ignored. (sources: AllTwitter)
-This is a major problem for brands and in my option completely unacceptable as social media monitoring software is readily available; in some cases even free! The damage done by one bad comment can trump endless hours spent building your brand image! My recommendation is at a minimum get on a service like Hootsuite and set up filters so you know when people are talking (good or bad) about your brand.

I recently came across an article written by Brian Honigman “100 Fascinating Social Media Statistics and Figures from 2012” and thought it would be fun to pare all these stats down into my ‘Facebook Top 5′ that apply to social business.
Facebook Top 5 Stats
1.) An average Facebook user has 130 friends. (source: AllTwitter)
-This stat is one of the most appealing to me simply because of the viral effect! Even though Facebook has changed its policy’s when it comes to others clicking “like” on your post you are still getting a lot of eyeballs on any post that is liked multiple times.

OBCIDIO is proud to announce its latest Customer Relationship Management (CRM) app with an added social layer! Now you can quickly manage important data on vendors, customers, contractors and more while receiving real-time updates to stay in the loop on new happenings.
This latest CRM app was developed on a request from Keller Williams Realtors South Tampa office. Agents needed a better way to quickly find recommended people and companies like appraisers, title companies and other contractors that are commonly used in their industry.

As Keller Williams had an existing CRM system it was way past its time! This forced agents back to mass email chains asking coworkers for recommendations on contractors and vendors. Not only was this process redundant and frustrating, there was no central area for the agents to re-access, update or store this shared knowledge. read more…
A recent Mikinsey Report (i) estimates office workers spend on average 28 hrs per week writing emails, searching for information and collaborating internally! Pretty staggering statistic considering that is well over half an average employees work week spent on three tasks, or to put another way close to 70% of an employees time based on a 40 hour week is spent on mining data and sharing content!
Apparently, most of us prefer to use email internally rather than walk over to a colleague’s office to discuss an issue sited the same Mikinsey Report (i). Part of this problem may be a CYA strategy but it is causing massive headaches for companies like Debenhams (a large British retail chain) having to store 13.8 million new emails a month, a figure increasing by 20% year on year for the retailer.
